Childhood protector

I have said it before and I hope that I will be able to say it again. I love this mild late fall/early winter. It is 1:20am on November 20th and I just got in from taking the dog out. Its like +5c out there! It was close to 12c this afternoon. I love this! The snow we had while Jamie was here melted the day he left for the city. So, like I said, it was all Jamie's fault it got cold and snowy.

I am also amazed at the amount of stars you can see out here. I was in the parking lot and could see more stars on a lightly cloudy night than I ever could in a totally clear night in Edmonton or St Albert. I could see 6 of the seven sisters. Thats fricken wicked! And we can see Mars and Venus. They are really bright. And proof (well to me) that its winter is that you can see Orion in the evening.

Heh. Orion has a special, goofy meaning to me. When I was 11, my best friend and I lived in the same condo complex. I lived at 176 and she lived at 21, just about at either end of the complex. After school most days I would go over to her house and would leave for home in time for dinner. In the winter that would make it about 5:30 and dark. The walk back to my place from her place took me through an unlit part of the complex. It wasnt very long but always freaked me out.

We were in Guides together and we went to the planitarium with them. That was when I learned where Orion was in the sky. After that whenever I walked across that dark patch I always thought that Orion would protect me. When I see it now I still think the same thing. Heh goofy things we keep from our childhood :)
