Whims

Mon Feb 6, 03:32 PM

So on a whim I decided, at 2:30 on Friday, that I wanted to go into town and get drunk with my friends. I succeeded in that plan. I was nicely toasted. Its been a very long time since I have been that drunk and likely will be just as long before I am again. It was just the 4 of us, no boys and it was so much fun. Heh I just remembered the almosthobbit boy sticking his ass into our table! Ha! hahahahee. Charlene! Thank Steve for driving my drunk ass home. That was nice of him.

I also caught a few movies. Tristan + Isolde we saw first. It was not bad. I am not the biggest fan of James Franco but he was ok. He is, if anything, really good at the tortured, angsty thing. His accent wasn't thick enough for me. It was also pretty cool to see Rufus Sewell playing a sympathetic character. The sword fights were good and there was a Band of Brothers Sgt playing a Lord from Cornwall. Always a good thing. Then we stayed and saw The New World.

Now my understanding is that Terrance Malick, the writer/director, released the film for 9 days, then took it out of theatres to re-cut it. It would be interesting to see how the original cut differs from the one I saw. As for the movie itself I think I was the only person in the theatre of about 40 people who really enjoyed it. The score was fantastic, the acting was really good (holyshitColinFarrellandChristianBale!!) and I loved how quiet the whole movie was. Not much dialogue and narration was nice. Too many movies it seems have sound just for sounds sake. And all the little roles! OMG! Ben Chaplin was in it. Did you miss him? I almost did. Not to mention Kirk Acevedo, Jamie Harris, Noah Taylor and Jonathan Pryce. That part of it makes me think of The Thin Red Line and how it started out as like Adrien Brody's movie and ended up being Ben Chaplin's movie. Ha!

Sunday before I left I went and saw The Matador. It was really funny! Had some nice twists, some that I saw coming and others I didnt. Laughed a lot, and Greg Kinnear is back in my good books once more. Pierce Brosnan was so anti-007. He was really good in it. Funny and sad and pathetic.

So now I am sitting at the front switchboard desk and the snow that fell all weekend is now finally melting off the panels we have in the almost-atrium up here. Its sliding down the panels and it keeps scaring me. But its also leaving pools of water for the sun to shine through and there are small rainbows along the wall across from me. Very pretty.

  2. Aww thanks! It wasn’t much but I know how little it takes to brighten a day (or a week). I am glad you enjoyed it. And you don’t owe me nothing :D
