Whew! Stampede is over. You have no idea how happy I am about that. The transit is back to normal. There are way less stupid people on the trains. And people are actually calling me back to book inspections at work! I still dont get what the big draw is. I really don't. They say its like Mardis Gras but for cowboys. They also say there are a lot of May babies and that the amount of reported STD's rises 25%. Gross.

So yes. Over. Yay. Otherwise life is pretty good. Been catching up on some movie watching. Caught Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribean II, The Devil Wears Prada in the past 2 weeks. I was most impressed with Superman Returns.

I am no real fan of Superman, and I wasn't hankering to see this movie. Kate Bosworth being cast as Lois Lane really put me off wanting to see it. I still say she can't act and wasn't very good in this movie. But that Routh guy? He was really good. There was enough of Reeves in him to pay homage to the guy, and enough og himself to make it his own Superman/Clark Kent. His Kent was great, I liked it more that Superman. And must admit, more than a little crush on the guy. Parker Posey! Love her and her Jackie O-ness. Did Kal Penn say one word in the entire movie? I love performances like that.

I was disapointed with Pirates II. This was one of the few movies I was really looking forward to seeing this summer. I didnt expect it to be so much of a set up for Pirates III. The effects, after seeing the first one a bajillion times, while cool, were almost expected. I appreciate the technical aspect of it, all the work that must have gone into doing them, but I wasn't blown away. The movie was cool, sure, but again just disapointing. The best part for me was when Jack was running out of the jungle with the tribe of canibals hot on his heals. All I would think was "Holy crap! Wouldn't that be cool if that happend on LOST? This random tribe of canibals comes screaming out of the jungle?" And now I am really looking forward to Pirates III.

And The Devil Wears Prada. I like Anne Hathaway. I like that she has boobs. That she is clumsy but not in an annoying Kate Hudson way. She is endearing. This movie though was very much "meh" to me. It wasnt comedic enough to be a comedy, not romantic enough to be a romance (ech Simon Baker? Gag me with a spoon) and not dramatic enough to be a drama. What exactly did they market this as? I enjoyed the trailer more than the movie. That pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

Yah. Movies, reading, knitting. Thats been my life lately. Not exciting but its what I want to do. Looking forward to the big wedding coming up soon. Its gonna be a great weekend. I am very excited for Heather.
