A Real Superwoman

Even before I really considered the 101 in 1001 I decided I was watching 100 movies in 2008. I got to I think around 85 in 2007. I wasn't really keeping track, but i think 100 is something I can definitely do. I told Shirley and my mom when I was up there and they were all on board for me. I know how indilime feels, they had a strange passion for my seeing 100 movies. That was just about all they wanted to do while I was there. That being said, I am doing pretty good so far. I've seen 5, and have as many sitting on my hard drive waiting to be watched.
On New Years Day I watched The Simpsons Movie. I liked this more than I like Superbad. Maybe because I really wasn't expecting much from it? Probably. It was funny, the story was goofy and I really haven't seen a new ep of the Simpsons in ages. I also watched This Is England. It's about an 11 year old kid, in England during the 80's. His dad died fighting in the Falklands War, he gets picked on at school and is befriended by some skinheads. I really enjoyed it. The kid in it, Thomas Turgoose, was really good. Very beleivable as this troubled kid, just wanting to fit in. I would definately recommend it.
On the 2nd after work I went and saw Charlie Wilson's War and totally went and told the manager to turn up the sound. OMG it was so quiet! Philip Seymour Hoffman's mumbling, Hanks is mumbling, and all I can hear it Amy Adams saying "Yes sir, of course sir". So I told them to turn it up. It was good. Julia Roberts was pretty cool in it, Philip Seymour Hoffman was pretty greasy (but I enjoyed it, I usually don't like him).
On the 3rd I watched Bullet To Beijing with Michael Caine. I am not sure how this movie was marketed but it was amusing for being a crap movie. Caine is an ex CIA agent in Russia. At one point he is in a smallish police car (that he and his friend just ran into) being questioned by some Major. They pull up to his hotel, the Major tells him to not break any laws. Caine goes to open his door, but its jammed closed. He looks over at the Major, he does not move, and Caine then proceeds to climb over the Major and get out his side. Man, it was much more funny than I am making it sound. Later he's about to be thrown from a train and he asks his captors "Can we wait for a slow bit?" HA!
On the 4th I watched The Natural on TCM. You know, I like baseball, I like baseball movies, I like Robert Redford, but this movie did nothing for me. Not a thing. I finally got to see at what point in the movie that clip that is always played comes from. That was nice. Oh, and I like Richard Farnsworth, he's cool. Yah, that's about all I have to say about it.
I still want to see Juno, I Am Legend, The Waterhorse, Sweeney Todd, Enchanted, and No Country For Old Men. We'll see what I actually get out to see.
Oh, and for those who want to keep track with me, my 101 in 1001 blog has been set up. Woo! 3 down 98 to go!
