Why yes! It really is 3:12am

Sat Apr 19, 11:54 PM

Ok. This is pretty funny. I especially like MySpace.

This is my last night of 2-10's. As much of a night owl as I am, it feels pretty weird to be up this late everyday for a week. Meh, next week I'm on 8-4's and that will be almost normal :)

My plan for the weekend? Well I have a lot of things I want to get done. I need to clean the house, do the dishes, do a load of laundry. I want to upload a Futurama moodtheme I found, I have a mess of movies I want to watch. And I'm working some overtime tomorrow (well I guess it's really later today). What I think will end up getting done? Maybe the dishes, maybe the laundrey, definately the OT, maybe a movie. 2 days for a weekend just never seems like long enough.

Lastly? My head is fucking killing me right now. I should just go to bed already. But the internet, it's calling my name! Liz, Liiiiiiz! Come back! Look! I've got crappy videos to show you!

Rickroll'd

Fri Apr 18, 11:53 PM

Ok. We were rickroll'd at work today. We have this, well its almost like a slideshow that they play in the call centre. Its got the weather in the 3 cities where we have call centres, show tech status stuff, weather alerts, call queues. They update this everyday. Well today, in the middle of the "show" they played about a 30 second clip of the Rick Astley video, but without sound. It was strange. And I think I may have been one of the only people in my department who realized what the hell it was. I still have no idea why it was put in the "show" though. Weird.

And this is the best rickroll video. Ever.

THIRD BASE!

Sat Apr 12, 11:51 PM

I have spent the evening watching the videos on The 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches of All Time, according to Nerve and IFC. (via theackattack) Some of them were amusing, some were funny, some were hilarious. My favourites from the list? #29 "Argument to Beethoven's Fifth" and #2 "Who's On First?" They also had Carol Burnett's "Went With the Wind" but I think there are much funnier sketches from her show than this one. Classic comedy there, I tell ya! Oh and a couple of Kids in the Hall (Chicken Lady and the Crush Your Head) along with a mess of SNL sketches. The whole list is not too Americentric, French and Saunders are listed a couple times, Monty Python makes the list a few times, as well as other Brits. So the two I liked best are under the cut. Watch and you will laugh!

Argument to Beethoven's Fifth - Cid Cesar. I had never seen this before, but man it is brilliant. According to the list, this was live tv, no retakes or edits. This is a brilliant bit.

Who's on First - Abbot and Costello. I love this. Every time I hear it I laugh so hard I cry. The unfortunate thing is that they continued this gimmick through their entire career. The whole "Costello doesn't understand what Abbot is talking about" thing. And it gets old, fast. This was the best of all their bits.

High traffic dirt and grime

This is why I love living in Calgary.

I woke up this morning at 8am and this is what I saw out the window. They were calling for rain but we got this instead.
8am

This was the alley behind my building, my walk to the bus stop. This wasn't normal dry Alberta snow. This was wet, sticky, Ontario snow. It was halfway to my knees in the alley.

This is what it looked like when I got home at 7. Look! You can see Crowchild Trail!
7pm

And this is the forecast for the rest of the week. How crazy is that? Hardly anyone has shoveled as its all going to be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

I am also really excited for The Office tonight. Its been way too long!

She must have rolled over on a tick

I've also been hearing about protests and altercations involving the Olympic Torch run. You know what I have to say to the protesters? You had your fucking chance when China bid for the Olympics. I sympathize with their cause, I do, but that is not my problem. Protesting in this way and threatening boycotting the games is doing nothing but hurting the atheletes who have trained almost their entire lives! These are the people who you are affecting with these protests. Think of the people this time around who are participating in the Torch run. Can you imagine carrying the torch and having a mob of people swarm you? And not because of something you did, because the host country has questionable policies. What did that poor runner do to them? Nothing! It really pisses me off to see all this coming down on the atheletes. If you want to protest, protest the corporate sponsors of the games. Boycott Coke, boycott GE, boycott Johnson&Johnson, boycott Adidas, boycott Mcdonalds, boycott Visa, boycott Samsung, boycott Volkswagon. If the governments are getting no action with this issue, maybe the corporations can provide some muscle. But attacking the atheletes? Threatening boycotts? 100 days before the games start? Come on people, that is not the way to do this.

Is it so wrong that I don't really want a digital camera? I want one that has actual film in it. Digital cameras are totally a symptom of our instant gratification society. Waiting to get the film developed? I love getting film developed. Getting to see what you took pictures of, its like reliving the experiences. When I was putting my photos into albums I was a little shocked to see how little photos I have printed from digital cameras. I know there are pictures floating around (I know Heather and Charlene and Nicole have discs if I really wanted them) but I miss film. There is a point to this, really. I decided today that I want to document this summer more than just in my head. I am really hoping for a good summer, I think its going to be a good experience, and I want more than just memories. Wow, how schmaltzy, ech. And a little bit redundant.

Also? OMG I want these shot glasses!!
