Rickroll'd
Sat Apr 19, 12:53 AM
Ok. We were rickroll'd at work today. We have this, well its almost like a slideshow that they play in the call centre. Its got the weather in the 3 cities where we have call centres, show tech status stuff, weather alerts, call queues. They update this everyday. Well today, in the middle of the "show" they played about a 30 second clip of the Rick Astley video, but without sound. It was strange. And I think I may have been one of the only people in my department who realized what the hell it was. I still have no idea why it was put in the "show" though. Weird. And this is the best rickroll video. Ever.

Summer evenings pass by

I did my Canadian duty, or maybe my rock n roll duty, and checked out the free show tonight at Olympic Plaza. The Juno's are in Calgary this weekend so one of the local radio stations put on a free concert. The bands were the Dudes (local band), Sloan, Bedouin Soundclash, the New Odds (I guess the old odds but with a new name?) and Finger Eleven. I sort of kind of wanted to see the New Odds and could really do without seeing Finger Eleven (really, if I hear Paralize one more time, I might suffer permanent brain damage). By the time my shift was over and I got downtown I was just in time to see Sloan. It was pretty good. They had about a 45 minute set, mostly their singles. They opened with the "goat jizz" song (I swear they actaully sang it once that way!) and ended with "If It Feels Good Do It". I was starving by then and had to head home. No odds for me, they werent going on next, apparently after Bedouin Soundclash and before Finger Eleven (who closed the night). So yah. Yay for me and doing something that didnt involve a dark theatre full of strangers! On a randomish music note, "Afternoons and Coffeespoons" by the Crash Test Dummies is one of my favourite songs. It never fails to put a giant grin on my face and I end up listening to it over and over again. Not to mention dancing like an idiot. It may go on the list of possible "silent rave" songs I'm compiling. Take a listen for yourself!

Zenia is dead

Two things I have heard and one thing I have seen on the bus in the last little bit.Thing the first: There was a mom and a little kid. I thought she was teaching him how to count in German. You know, "Eins, zwei. No eins, zwei." The kid would repeat it, "Eins, zwei. Eins, zwei." What it turned out they were saying was "Eye spy with my little. No. Eye. Spy."
Thing the second: Said from one tall guy to a taller guy "If you were in Japan, you'd be a monster!". Very weird random bit of conversation I caught, but it made me laugh.
Thing the third: on the train coming from the northeast, it follows 32nd Street. I'm looking out the window and I see an SUV full of wiggers like "rocking out" to whatever the hell they were listening to. But not rocking out, much like this dumbass but in a car. It was very funny. I literally laughed out loud on the train.
Randomly, I am reading The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood and quite enjoying it, Sandbox is on the radio and I like that, I voted today but doubt my vote was enough to knock these godforsaken PC's out of power.
