What people wore

2 awesome things seen today and one podcast rec.
  1. The Invisible Man. Seriously. The best costume ever. The train was coming up to my station and as we pull in I see this 6'5" guy with a fedora, dark glasses, trench coat, and a friggin' tensor bandage wrapped around his head. Awesome! It really was incredible and was hands down the best costume I have seen in a couple years.
  2. I later went to Walmart. As I was walking from the store to my bus stop I saw a tow truck towing a tow truck! When we were kids we had this goofy car-ride bingo game. Each card had pictures of things you would see from the car during your drive. Cows, semi's etc. Two of the four cards had a tow truck towing a tow truck. I swear to god. We never got that square, ever. So now, I win car-ride bingo.
  3. Cast On is a great knitting podcast. Hosted by Brenda Dayne it is not so much a "this is a pattern, this is how you knit it, and with this yarn" kind of podcast, it is more on the culture of knitting. In the first episode, Brenda states that she wanted to produce an online vocal knitting magazine. She does an incredible job. She has produced almost 60 episodes in, oooohh exactly 2 years today. Brenda is funny and her voice is smooth and lovely. If you are at all inclined to knitting check out the podcast.

He didn`t come in yesterday either

I am on a lizard buying spree it seems. I just purchased a cool green on green glass pendant that I have had my eyes on for a while and a kind of art nouveau pin from etsy. Ha, I love getting packages in the mail. I should order stuff online more often. My problem is that without a credit card there is that 8 day lag in transferring money to paypal. It is more annoying to me than any kind of hinderance. If anything I forget what I was looking at and end up getting something else.

And now a meme, that Livejournal meme that's going around.
  • Number of journal entries:: 298

  • Number of people on your friends list:: 38 people, 21 communities.

  • Person who introduced you to LJ:: The Beautify girls. I'd have to agree with grrliz that it was finefinemusic who thought it would be great if we took over LJ.

  • Still friends with this person:: These people? Yah I would say so.

  • How many people have you introduced to LJ:: That is still here? heathrlee. I can't remember if Charlene or Heather ever jumped on the LJ bandwagon.

  • List everyone on your friends list who you have met in person:: , stuporstar

  • Total LJers met:: The 2 I know above.

  • 5 people on LiveJournal that you have known the longest:: heathrlee, and the Beautify girls (listed in no real order) zutaloo, finefinemusic, grrliz, hamano_kumiko

  • Anyone on LJ you can't stand:: No not really. Well not besides the 14 year old twits that you can never be free of.

  • Name one person on your friends list you would most like to meet:: One? How about a few more? How 'bout zutaloo, grrliz, magickalmolly, dashery?

  • Ever ban someone from commenting in your journal:: Nope, I don't generate that kind of drama.

  • Number of comments:: Posted: 1,037 - Received: 425

  • Biggest pet peeve about LJ:: custom layouts on comments pages, 14 year old twits, longer posts without cutting

  • Do you feel close to most of the people on your friends list:: Sure. Besides heathrlee, who is a real life person, a friend I have known for over 10 years, I am truly still surprised I am still on some peoples flists.

  • How many journals on LiveJournal do you have:: Just the one. Well no, at one point I had a super sekret one but I have since completely forgotten what the name of it was.

  • Communities I currently own/maintain:: None.

It's a bit hazy but it starts out in a shady motel room...

I've got a theory (it could be bunnies!) This whole "Viva Laughlin" debacle was really just a marketing ploy by CBS to get more people to watch the season premeire of "Amazing Race". Brilliant really.

This weekend was Charlene's baby shower. It was fun seeing everyone and hanging out. We totally crashed Mark's house. He is a friend we all haven't seen in almost 6 years. He moved like, 3 blocks away from Charlene so after the shower we all just showed up. We got their at 5:30 and didn't leave until 1am. Ha, great friends we are! And I realize now as I post this, after giving her a mess of knitted stuff, that I have no pictures of any of them. Nicole posted a couple of Charlene holding the Oilers blanket I made, but that's it! I made a lot and I have no pictures. I also have this weird thing about Charlene keeping the stuff I made. I do not want her to keep all of it. I ended up making 2 pairs of pants, 2 sweaters, 2 blankets, a small hat, and the turtle. I don't want her to keep the stuff I made just because I made it. It is clothing, it should be worn and worn out! The things I made, I made them as much for me as I did for the baby. Making small stuff is fun and they are small enough that I don't get bored making the thing. Yah, so no keeping the stuff until the child is an adult wondering why the hell thier mother kept this crap made for them as a baby.

I also scored a lizard ring just like this one from Wal-mart this week and it was only $6! Score! I wear one ring on the middle finger of my left hand and this one fits nicely on the middle finger of my right hand. The only downside of the new ring is getting used to wearing it. It still feels kind of wrong. I like it, but it will never beat the Mexico lizard ring (stupid ocean, stealing it from me).

And also, randomly, I have decided that it would be cool to be properly analyzed by a professional by being given Rorschach tests and word association. Yah, that would be cool.

Guh, this has been a busy week. We are coming to year end at work and there has been an uber push to make forecast. I haven't done much but work this week. I did go and see 3:10 to Yuma on Tuesday, it was pretty good. I really enjoy Russell Crowe and Ben Foster was great in this. I loved him when he was a kid in that crap Disney show with Jewel Staite.

I have also been crocheting and knitting up a storm in any free time I have. Charlene's shower is in just over 3 weeks and I really thought I had more completed. I was wrong. So I bought me some new yarn and that will fill any free time I have. For those who care I have completed a sweater, a small warm buggy blanket (sort of a large dishcloth type thing), this turtle, and a couple of wee hats. I now have these pantson the needles in khaki and plan on making another pair in navy. The kids room is painted in Oilers colours so I am crocheting a larger blanket like this one but in white, orange, and navy. Making baby stuff is fun cause its done so fast!

I also got season 1 of Alias in the mail on Monday so I've been watching that too. Its pretty good but I am starting to get sick of Sydney's flip-flopping with her feelings about her dad. She seems smarter than that. New tv is starting this week and that has me really excited. I have my week almost completely planned out. New shows, new seasons. YAY! OMG I almost forgot! I picked up the first 2 seasons of OZ last weekend at Wal-Mart. I LOVE THAT SHOW! They might have to wait for weekends though, I am running out of time in the week to watch tv on DVD. Heh I am amassing quite a large collection of that and I think I may need an actual shelf or something to hold all of them. They are getting a little unweildy.

Score!

Total knitting score last night at Value Village. They had 3 balls of Regia sock yarn in a bag for $1.99. Each ball had a price tag on it for $8.49. So that's like $25 of yarn for $2! And its not even gross colours! Its the fake jaquard kind of sock yarn, the one that looks spotted when you look at the strand. I am hoping to get 2 pairs from the 3 balls. We will see. I am going to try and do the pattern that's in this book called "Knitting Rules!" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. The pattern is a no-pattern pattern. You go by gauge and the measurements of the foot. Now that I have some cool yarn I'm looking forward to starting some new socks.
