Must. Read. Books

Tue May 8, 11:02 PM

I have 4 novels currently loaned out from the library. I had good intentions of reading one of them tonight. It is now 11 pm, I have not cracked a book and am watching Robot Chicken. This has become my favorite show. It is fucking hilarious. Half the fun is picking out the voices that arent Seth Green. Tonight it was Breckin Meyer and OMG Rue McClanehan?!? That cant be. Who ever it was was spot on! BAAAHAHAAAAHAHAHAAA. PIMPIN POKEMON!

And hopefully some more Hot Fuzz with an Erin from work. I may see it regardless if she can come. Also? Jason Bateman and Zac Braf together in a movie? Might have to see that.

ps - note to self: install the BoB moodtheme already!

Kemosabi, jump on it.

a) So today was GoLive at work. For how bad it could have been it went pretty well. I think the most of us were pretty beat by 4:30. Tomorrow should be better, but the whole week is gonna be pretty rough. Month end and all. We have already planned on going out Friday night. Should be fun!

b) 58% GeekMingle2.com - Free Online Dating

I am slightly disapointed that according to the quiz, I am only 58% geek.

c) I decided that I do like Raines. Too bad the last ep of the season is this Friday. Also for those LOST fans who dont know, Libby (Cynthia Watros) will be on the ep as Raines' ex-wife. Should be interesting.

d) I am reading Good Omens again. The copy I picked up from the library is a 16th anniversary edition or something. Its a newer edition and the cover, I swear, has used the same typeface as Jonathan Norrell and Mr Strange. I like it and would like to find a copy of it myself. Its a pretty edition.

e) Project Catwalk et al are crack. Pure crack. You can not see any previous episodes but be sucked right into the drama. Its insane.

f) I seriously need a new computer. This one sucks the big one.

I borrowed the last Harry Potter book from one of my friends to read while I was in Mexico. I managed to read a total of 20 pages while there. I finished it again last night. The part that got me this time, like last time, was when Dumbledore dies. But a different part of the book this time. It wasnt Snape killing him, or the funeral but when McGonnigal and Harry are in the headmasters office and Harry see's the new portrait of Dumbledore, sleeping like nothing had happened, hanging on the wall. That got me all teary. And I couldnt help but think "Man if they pull this off, this is gonna be a fucking awesome movie!". Alan Rickman must have just salavated when he read he killed Dumbledore. I also love how the killing curse sounds like Abara Kadabera. That makes me giggle.

Now that I've finished that book again, I am having a hard time finding things to read. Any recommendations? I'm mostly all ears.

Apropos of nothing

I really like Paul Simon's Graceland. It is a good album. My dad had the record and used to listen to it a lot. How can you go wrong with Ladysmith Black Mombazo and zydeco in one record? You can't! (ok I know you can but go with me on this) I have listened to it strait for the past 3 work days. I have yet to get tired of it. It would just be nice if I could sing along and not get weird looks.

I have also inadvertantly read 2 books that were both based on Nazi's doing better pre-WWII than they historically did. The first one was The Plot Against America by Philip Roth. It was about Lindbergh, really, and how he was a supporter of the Germain Nazi regime and how he was going to run for president against FDR. Interesting but boring really. This new one is called The Man In The High Castle by Philip K. Dick. In this one the Allies lost WWII and the US is split between Japan and Germany. Interesting so far. Not what I was expecting from the author though. I've known him as a SF writer more than this really. So we shall see how this will end.

I finished Good Omens. I really enjoyed it. Like I said, much like Douglas Adams. Funny, witty, crazy, good ending. Enjoyed it and would recommend it to just about anyone. So go and read it!!

I also worked on mine and heather's lj layouts this weekend, but because I left the disk in the computer, can't do anything about it today. Pain in the ass. And you want to know how many times I said to myself "Leave it in there and you're going to forget it"? 4. And what did I do? Forget it. I swear to god I would loose my head if it wasnt attached. My brain doesnt like to work lately. At least not when I want it to.

Big Loser

Thu Jun 15, 11:45 AM

I had a complete *SQUEE* moment on the bus this morning. The bus I take goes through the downtown past 2 older movie theatres. They show independant-type movies. Well low and behold, On A Clear Day is playing at the Globe Theatre!! Billy Boyd's movie about the guy who swims the English Channel. The one I downloaded because I figured it would never make it to theatres here.

I was such an idiot. I had a total big goofy grin and stared at the theatre in disbelief until I couldnt see it anymore. Big loser, I know. If I wasn't going up to Edmonton this weekend I would totally be sitting in that theatre. Maybe Monday night.

As for why I am not watching cute Billy Boyd this weekend I am really looking forward to it. Charlene and Nicole have planned a bridal shower for Heather thats on Saturday. I am looking forward to that. Its gonna be goofy, wedding fun. Also I will see my friends for the first time since I moved. At least I think its the first time. My memory is crap lately. And that is going to be fun. I miss my girls. (ech did I just call them my girls? shoot me now)

I also started reading Good Omens on Tuesday. So far, so good. The writing style reminds me of Douglas Adams. The humour and little tangents. I like that the tangents are footnoted. When I saw them I thought I was getting into a Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell type footnote thing. Those killed me! But this book isnt quite like that. I am liking it so far. For those who care, I am at the part where the hellhound has not shown up at Warlock's party.
